Mevagissey

Information about the popular Cornish fishing village of Mevagissey, where the ferry travels to and from.

Mevagissey is one of Cornwall's most picturesque fishing villages, located on a spectacular stretch of coast and within walking distance (1.5 miles) or taxi ride of the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Once the centre of Cornwall's pilchard fisheries, Mevagissey continues to support several dozen small fishing boats which provide colour and bustle to the attractive harbour.

If drinking in the atmosphere on the harbour-side is not enough for you, Mevagissey offers an excellent museum, an aquarium displaying locally caught fish, a fine model railway exhibition, art galleries, shops, pubs, restaurants and, of course, fish and chips.

The coastal footpath offers some lovely walks but is fairly steep in places.

Some metered car parking is available on the harbourside but the streets are narrow and often very full of pedestrians!
